ROSE CITY CLASSIC DOG SHOW The Rose City Classic Dog Show is one of the largest and most popular dog events in the United States.
The all-breed shows feature breed judging, which is also known as conformation. At Rose City Classic, over 170 AKC breeds compete in conformation to earn championships, Best of Breed and Best in Show. In addition to conformation, Rose City Classic offers top-notch performance and companion events such as agility, obedience, Rally, Canine Good Citizen and even the new AKC events: Trick Dogs and Temperament Testing.
The Portland Expo Center has hosted the Rose City Classic Dog Show for 75 years, where grooming and competitions take up the entire Expo grounds. This year also includes a children's art contest, doggy product vendors and a Meet the Breeds opportunity for the public.
Public dogs are welcome if they are doing Canine Good Citizen testing.

SPECULATIVE DRAMA PRESENTS: TWELFTH NIGHT Feste meets Fargo in this post-holiday Christmas comedy. Speculative Drama, known for its immersive theatrical performances, teams up with locally owned veteran dive bar Angelo’s on Hawthorne and 46th for a unique production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Evoking the feeling of “Oregon Shakespeare Festival meets Sleep No More,” this fully immersive event follows the drunks, Dukes, and accidental drag kings of Illyria as they fall in and out of love through a series of hijinks, hiccups, and holiday mayhem in a small town where “everybody knows your name.”

STUDIO GHIBLI FILM FESTIVAL This year’s festival includes daily screenings, special guest speakers, and an Opening Night celebration focused on the 40th anniversary of Hayao Miyazaki’s Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Watch all your favorites, from My Neighbor Totoro to Kiki’s Delivery Service, all on the largest movie screen in Portland. Select screenings will feature introductions by experts on Miyazaki’s work from Portland State University and Pacific University.
PORTLAND MUSIC MONTH January is Portland Music Month (as officially proclaimed by the City of Portland). To celebrate, MusicPortland has curated 31 days of performances at 21 local venues featuring hundreds of music acts. The best part is, you’re invited.

MASTERPIECES IN MINIATURE: THE ART OF NETSUKE SCULPTURES Portland Japanese Garden is delighted to present its final new art exhibition of 2023, Masterpieces in Miniature: The Art of Netsuke Sculptures. Once immensely popular across Japan, netsuke (pronounced nets-keh) were miniature sculptures that also served a purpose as personal fashion accessories, helping overcome the lack of pockets in traditional men’s clothing by helping hang small items from a kimono sash. What started as simple accessories evolved into beautiful and complicated sculptures created in a variety of exquisite materials over a span of more than two hundred years during Japan’s Edo period (1603-1868).
PORTLAND WINTER ICE RINK The Portland Winter Ice Rink and Woodsy Winter Village is a family-friendly outdoor ice rink located at the west end of the Morrison Bridgehead on the waterfront in Portland, Oregon. In addition to skating, enjoy a variety of activities in the Woodsy Winter Village which features a concession marketplace, food, warm beverages, and a cozy lounge.
