ROSE CUP RACES
July 11–12
The Rose Cup Races are bringing the heat to Portland International Raceway with a field full of variety, speed, and serious racecraft. It is going to be an epic weekend of nonstop racing at Portland International Raceway, featuring six race groups, a Saturday car show, vendor booths, food booths and more. Gates open at 7:30 a.m. each day. Each event admission includes free access to the paddock and grandstand event seating.
Kids 16 and under get in free with a paid adult, and active or veteran military get free admission with ID at the gate.
Tanabata, the Star Festival, is one of five seasonal festivals celebrated in Japan since the eighth century. Each summer in Japan, people prepare for the festival by writing their wishes on narrow strips of paper called tanzaku and hanging them with other origami paper ornaments on bamboo branches displayed at the entrance to their homes and public places. Guests attending Portland Japanese Garden’s Tanabata celebration will be invited to the Yanai Family Classroom to write their own wishes on tanzaku. Volunteers will be present to assist guests with hanging their tanzaku on the bamboo in the Crumpacker Bamboo Allee, adding to the colorful display. The festival will also feature music from Takohachi and storytelling of the Tanabata story.
Bastille Day Festival
July 12
The Alliance Française de Portland invites the community to celebrate the 24th Annual Bastille Day Festival. This free, family-friendly festival is the longest-running and one of the largest Bastille Day celebrations on the West Coast, bringing together French culture, music, food, art, local flair, and fun for all ages.
Like the U.S. Fourth of July, Bastille Day commemorates a revolution that changed a nation. In 1789, the storming of the Bastille prison marked the birth of modern France, embodying the enduring values of Liberté, Fraternité, and Egalité. Portland’s festival welcomes francophiles, families, and anyone interested in a unique cultural experience.
June 19–Aug. 21
Nothing says summer in Portland like a warm evening outdoors with good food and live entertainment. On several evenings throughout the summer, the Oregon Zoo hosts Zoo Nights filled with local music, food carts, activities for all ages and the chance to get to know some of the animals active during twilight hours.
Zoo Nights occur from mid-June through mid-August, with live music on the lawn at 6:30 p.m. and activities from 5:30 p.m. Guests will also find tasty food and snacks — plus the ever-popular elephant ears and a selection of local beer and wine for adults.
The Festival of Arts is a three-day celebration of creativity, culture, and community in downtown Gresham. From lively street activations to evening concerts and a full-scale arts festival, the weekend offers multiple ways to connect with local artists, musicians, and neighbors.
The celebration begins on the Third Thursday’s Outdoor Street Fair, featuring vendors, live music, and local food along Main Avenue. Friday continues with Music Under the Stars, inviting the community to gather for an evening of live performances, an old-fashioned street dance and summer vibes where you can enjoy a beer and wine garden.
HAREFEST

The annual Harefest music festival in Canby presents the Northwest’s best tribute bands performing on three stages over two days. The Harefest experience has been described by many attendees and performers as an “adult summer camp,” not only for the fun-loving, good-natured attendees but also because of its rustic location and tent camping around the festival site.
Over twenty outstanding bands on three stages, delicious foods, on-site camping, and a giant party of rock n’ roll revelers.
SHADY PINES FESTIVAL

This summer, Away Days Brewing is transforming the Historic US National Bank Building in downtown Portland into the ultimate soccer fan fest. Six weeks, daily matches, one giant screen with hundreds of fans. DJs, games, pop-ups, merch and of course Away Days beer flowing from the taps.

WORLD CUP 2026

May 23-24Gol will be showing every match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup live, with sound. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Enjoy the enthusiastic and football-loving atmosphere at Gol, the preeminent “footy” bar in Portland. There will be high-end pub food and a mouth-watering selection of local beers on draft, as well as a large selection of international beers. There will also be a daily cocktail dedicated to the countries playing that day.
CATHEDRAL PARK JAZZ FESTIVAL

The Jazz Society’s Cathedral Park Jazz Festival is a free concert open to the public and held over three days in mid-July at Cathedral Park at the base of the St. Johns Bridge in the Cathedral Park neighborhood of Portland. Nearing four decades of history, the festival is the longest-running jazz and blues festival west of the Mississippi River.
This major musical event in the heart of summer features the region’s best local jazz, blues, R&B and soul artists. It also fosters cooperation and pride in the North Portland neighborhoods of Cathedral Park and St. Johns and recognizes and promotes the community’s local businesses. This year marks the 46th consecutive year of the Cathedral Park Jazz Festival, which has been managed by the Jazz Society of Oregon for the past 11 years.
BLUEGRASS JAMS

Nationally recognized as the largest continuously operating open-air arts and crafts market in the country, the Portland Saturday Market Combines the vibes of an art show, a live street concert and an open-air bazaar. has been a beloved Rose City tradition since 1974 — in 2024, the market celebrated its 50th anniversary and earned the “Oregon Heritage Tradition” title. It’s considered the largest continually operating arts-and-crafts fair in the United States, drawing up to 1 million visitors during its annual season.
