Set out to create a performance so extraordinary, it would not only capture the grandeur of China’s ancient, divinely-inspired culture…

You just might catch a glimpse of heaven.

Avenue Q

AVENUE Q
Mar. 13–Apr. 12
Winner of the Tony Triple Crown for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart.

The laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton, who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, Avenue Q is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere. Although the show addresses humorous adult issues, it is similar to a beloved children’s show; a place where puppets are friends, Monsters are good, and life lessons are learned.

 Westside Community Church

WESTSIDE COMMUNITY CHURCH
Apr 4-May 9
Come Alive is a six-week journey that begins with the explosive hope of Easter and unfolds into the life-changing reality of what the resurrection of Jesus truly means. The empty tomb wasn’t simply the end of death—it was the beginning of a brand-new future for humanity and for the whole world.

In this powerful series, we’ll explore the breathtaking hope unleashed by Jesus rising from the dead: the promise of heaven, the future God is preparing, and why eternity changes the way we live right now. What really happens after we die? What kind of life awaits those who belong to Christ? And how does the promise of eternity fill our everyday lives with courage, purpose, and hope?

If death is not the end and heaven is real, then every moment matters more than we imagine.

Death is finished. Hope is forever.

It’s time to Come Alive.

Nice and Grimm by Portland Storytellers

NICE AND GRIMM BY PORTLAND STORY TELLERS
Apr. 11
Over 200 years ago, the Brothers Grimm began publishing the Germanic folktales they collected from oral sources. Some feel that folktales have persisted for generations as they touch into universal fears and truths of human existence. Tellers from Portland Storytellers’ Guild have selected a gaggle of grossly ghoulish tales and have refashioned them with their own brands of humor and panache. You are about to embark on a great adventure into the quirky, the macabre, and hopefully the entertaining. Submitted for your approval…six saucy stories served…nicely grimmed.

The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical

THE LIGHTNING THIEF: THE PERCY JACKSON MUSICAL
Apr. 8–19
Ancient myth and teen angst collide in this high-voltage rock musical adapted from Rick Riordan’s best-selling novel, where young people learn that the things that make you different are what make you strong.

Demigod Percy Jackson has always struggled with fitting in. When his single mom must send him where she can’t follow, he ends up at a summer camp for kids like him – half Greek god, half mortal. Joined by a daughter of Athena trying to prove her worth and a satyr trying to make up for past tragedies, the trio journeys into the underworld and back to reclaim Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt and stop a war between the gods. With a whole host of mythological creatures chasing after them, can these unlikely heroes shoulder the fate of the world? Maybe Percy can finally find a place where he belongs…if he doesn’t die first. This electric coming-of-age story will resonate with anyone who’s had trouble finding the courage to stand strong in a world full of monsters.
